Far-flung, afield, dusk travel’s magnet
draws moonglow painted shadow space.
I pause to note rough sounds cease as
night’s homely adjustment commences.
Soft rustles, steps, flutterings stitch air,
litter low, just over there, now whispers here.
Sense a thousand ears tuning their stations
from light’s brash cymbal-clapped squawks
to Hammond B of night’s sweet clarinets.

Wonderful images, as usual. Personally, I don’t think it’s spooky, but spooky doesn’t nave to be a negative thing, Li, but maybe they meant more like atmospheric or haunting. The music from Phantom is another matter, lol. I had to reformat the entire Broadway production recently and only enjoyed a few of the songs. But that’s all me. After all, it’s been running for what–30 years?! :)

Stacey, I agree with you about spooky, especially around Halloween time. When you say you had to reformat the production, what does that mean? Is this song one of the ones you enjoyed? I love it. Used to have the music on a cassette tape which shows you how long ago it was.

You know, I don’t work there anymore, but now I’m not sure if the NDA is over yet, lol. But just generally, “reformat” just means to retime something, which is what I did. I did like the above song. I liked Point of No Return, some of Music of the Night, and All I ask of You. I have a weird ear thing, though: even though I know her voice was beautiful, I kinda can’t stand female sopranos, lol. You can imagine I don’t go to the opera often! :)
