Varied textures about
Each garden in seasons
Surely speak to senses
States of wake and sleeping
Everything under sun
Lives to die; lives again
Of bees and butterflies
Favorites based on taste
Yellow pollen pockets
Or straw sipping nectar
Unvaried their choices
Revel in colored fills
Pretty purple calls them
Universal guidance
Rely on divination
Provision, creator’s
Latticework woven of
Everything – all that is.

These blossoms are very pretty, as is your poem!
Unrelated question: Is your area impacted by smoke from the Canadian wild fires?
Here in New Jersey it’s incredible. When I noticed the smell of smoke in the air, at first, I thought there was a fire in my town. There’s a significant amount of smoke in the air, creating hazy conditions in addition to a strong odor.

We have that too in the city. I also thought there was a fire nearby. The sky is yellowish grey.

It’s slightly freakish. In my area, the sun was orange and not because it was setting.

Thank you, Christian. The moon that night it looked like honey marble in tar was probably an effect of smoke in the air, but I haven’t seen the area otherwise impacted. No smoke smell. It’s actually cooler than it’s been in a long time. 70F right now at 9:20pm. I may get out on the bike again tomorrow. Sorry to hear your area is feeling its effects. Way too close for comfort :(

In the meantime, I learned there’s also a wildfire in New Jersey about 30 miles to the south from us. Perhaps the strong smell of burned wood is coming from there. It’s all unsettling, especially for folks who live closer to the fire.

Christian, I understand the unsettling. It’s dry tinder around here as it hasn’t rained in so long. It would take much to have it burst into flames. 30 miles isn’t very far for wildfire. I’ve been hearing more and more about the fires in Canada. It breaks my heart to think of those vast forests burning.

Yep, the scale of destruction is scary. Today, the smell isn’t as strong as yesterday, but it’s still slightly hazy. Really incredible how far smoke can travel when the weather conditions are “right”.

I read once that the color combination of yellow and purple somehow is more attractive to insects than each color alone. I especially like your last stanza, and the flowers are gorgeous! (K)

Interesting about that color combination. I’ve seen pansies with that combo. Maybe the pollen counts as the yellow in other purple flowers? Not sure where I saw those clematis but they weren’t in my yard.

It was in reference to purple and yellow flowers growing together in the wild. But on the same flower would certainly work!

Oh! I will definitely add some yellow flowers to the beds. For some reason most of my flowers are shades of purple or red. There will be sunflowers but they grow so much taller. We need rain for the flowers so bad right now :(

We need rain in general. I hope we all get some soon.

I love the cyclical nature of this, the seasons, and the all-encompassing connection of everything; and that you mentioned yellow, a color opposing purple on the color wheel.💜💛

Cool on the color wheel. Kerfe mentioned bees like that combo also. Thank you, Melissa.

Are those clematis in your garden? They are gorgeous. I love the color. It wakes the senses for sure. Divination– all there is. Your poem is as gorgeous as those flowers. Thanks for sharing, Lisa. Blessings. xoxo
(And how were your lilacs this year?)

Hi Selma :) No not from my garden, and not even 100% sure I took that picture. I looked in my folders for purple flowers and that image was in there. Usually pics for blogs are in the blog folder. It’s a mystery, but I agree they are gorgeous. My lilacs were absolutely wonderful, both the big tree one and the dwarf ones. Check out my last few “Doodads” posts and you’ll see pics of them.

Wow, the purple clematis are stunning! I love the color purple and your poem sets up the color perfectly. The second stanza with “yellow pollen pockets” etc. really is lovely. All the colors and imagery are wrapped up in your last stanza! 💜

Me too. Was it you who noticed the purple frame in that collage? I also like how purple can mean different things, from royal robes, to bruises.

Yes I think it was me…it set it off…yes purple meant royality in the old days.
