  1. Here it is less than an hour to bedtime… but it sounds like you have a full day ahead of you. A great way to count up.

I had to look up copacetic – apparently it’s informal North American for ‘in excellent order’, which you have demonstrated in your quadrille, Lisa. I enjoyed your counting poem, especially as it had ‘two sleeping cats’, which reminded me of Luna and Mojo! I also love the ‘three glass fish wind chime’, the ‘eight tiny sun arnica’ and ‘nine fingerling zucchini’.

  6. This reminded me of one of those old counting songs, like the Twelve Days of Christmas or Green grow the rushes, oh. It has a similar feel, as though the things you cite have magical properties.

  14. I hadn’t read your poem before writing mine but I did a play with the numbers too. I sort of cheated because I used the numerals so I wouldn’t “waste” my 44 words!

I like this, Lisa, I call it “a Counting Poem”. At my second reading start “The Twelve Days of Christmas” came to mind. I like, also, to see how the prompter treats his/her prompt. Yours and Cristine’s remided me also of a saved toy from my child, a “Mecanical Multiplying Monkey”, that knows the multipication table through twelve. Perhaps I’ll write of him one of these days. My goofy aging mind, I may send you a picture later on.
Thanks for peeking in on me, this keeps you busy with all the readers here.

Jim, I appreciate your comment, and yes, I work for bananas these days :) Would love to see that toy, and amazing it can do the tables through twelve. Maybe write another quadrille about it?? You are very welcome, and once a month of busyness won’t hurt me <3

I discovered recently that my partner counts things in her head all the time – something I had not known in 40 years of living together – I will show her this poem…
If that was the afternoon and you had 12 hours to go to bed then what on earth time do you retire for the night Lisa?

    1. Lisa or Li's avatar msjadeli says:

Couples that keep learning about each other stay together, if your union with your partner is evidence. I wrote the poem at 2pm and 2am is my usual bedtime. Hey I’m retired! No more getting up early for me.
