dVerse Q181 — Q x 2

18 Allegra Brucker Matisse The Pineapple 1948

Tall walls and soundproofed ceilings;
I wonder why art is caged in hushed,
conditioned, dustless air, whether
three hundred or a single year old.
I sidle and snake my way, along and
around Matisse’ traveling exhibit. He
sure knows how to make color pop.

When I think pop, I think:

Badfinger;
a startling punch;
goes the weasel;
green, red, and yellow soda;
bubble gum when not snapped;
dried kernels of corn, heated to bursting;
gunfire from a distance;
snap, crackle, …
a car backfiring;
Andy Warhol;
a top.

Mish is today’s host of dVerse’ Quadrille Monday.  Mish says:
Remember that your quadrille must be exactly 44 words in total, not including the title. It must
contain the word “pop” or a form of the word. You are not required to use “pop” as an overall
theme.

    LOVE both of these! Ah yes….pop and Andy Warhol..good connection. I went the pop goes the weasel route too…but quite differently. LOVE the illustration you’ve used here as well.

    I enjoyed these back to back quadrilles, your appreciation for the artist, the profoundness of “I wonder why art is caged…” and the variety of sounds and images you create in the second.

      I wish I would see one, but it’s just a dream right now. I used Matisse (and Seurat) postcards this year for POPO2023 so I’ve been looking at his work on postcards since June. Looking for a good image for today, I found this really neat exhibit they had at MoMA that I would have loved to see:
