resized package from Jules 083123

Jules and I exchanged some of our seeds with each other recently, via the post office.  Imagine my delight when I found this package in my mailbox.  I have Jules’ permission to share it here.  I love stamps, and her package to me is a gift in and of itself.  Thank You!

Phil I did and I am, but what do I do with the stamps? (I’m a hoarder.)

You know that is an excellent idea. I obtained a large old world atlas from a library giveaway not all that long ago. Using a page from it would make an excellent background. Will make sure to post the end result if I do it :)

“I’ve been collecting stamps since I was a kid and just discovered that they aren’t worth much more than face value. What should I do with them?” lol, That might not have been Jules’ thought process, but that’s the way it looks to me – some of those stamps are pretty cool. (Actually, I do have a drawer full of pre-Forever stamps, and should do this with some of them.)

So is that your quote at the top of this comment? I remember the days of snail mail and pen pals and years-long correspondences with friends and family. I miss those days. I wonder if there are still people doing the snail mail pen pal thing? And if not there would those who would like to get a pen pal thing started?

No, the quote at the top was a little joke. I have heard of people still doing the pen-pal thing with snail mail, so it isn’t totally dead. To me, using snail mail for pen-pal letters is much better than emails. It feels much more personal. I am not sure, it might be through schools. I guess I should Google it.

I’ve got a Stamp Guy that I can get ‘older’ stamps from. I doubt they are worth more than what is on the stamp. I actually collect stamps for other people these days. I have a box where I collect ‘picture stamps’ and then divide them up… some go out of the country, others go to organizations.

Sometimes I am able to request denomination or category. Most of the high denominations stamps are gone … he says. But since I’ve been getting these types of stamps for several years I have a good bit to choose from when I decorate packages, postcards or letters.

If anyone would like some fancy stamps (canceled on a post card… just email me – maybe we can exchange post cards?

I’m glad to have put smiles on so many faces with my ‘art stamps’ ~ Cheers ~Jules

(And thanks Lisa for the seeds and your friendship!)

I appreciate you sharing that info, Jules. Phil gave me an excellent seed of an idea with suggesting I frame them. I have that old World Atlas That I could use for the background or as matte. I may be hitting you up for some more of those stamps :)

I can always look for a ‘themed’ stamps; flowers, space, etc though I may not have them…

I actually have just a few small favorites in little frames. I have this one sort of try fold pannel that displays five favorite themed stamps. :D

You could also actually decopage a small frame with stamps for a flower photo? Or any photo. Or decopage a vase…. so many crafty ideas. Maybe even a flower pot edge trim…
