Project Ant Part 3 092423

The old raised peony bed is no more.  Finished it off today.  Decided to bag up instead of burn the detritus.  Even though the burn ring has a dome screen, all it would take is one spark carried by the wind to light up the dry litter in the area.  I methodically wheelbarrowed 4 times to the field and now there is a mound of very nice growing medium that has been tainted by insects  :(  The landscape fabric came up easily and was also bagged.  I’m proud of the work done so far.  The cut logs will be a much bigger job, especially with the rotting and infested bark falling off of them.  Their sheer weight is too much for me to lift so I have been rolling them, one by one, to the driveway.  I kind of made it a goal to do one a day, which would take me about a month to get done.  Still done before the snow flies.

It wasn’t that bad. As dry as it has been the wheelbarrows were not heavy. It was tedious and glad it’s done.

That made me tired just reading it. Glad you cleared it now….but the work has just begun. Awesome Job Lisa…
We need to do the same to her flower garden…we have a lot of fabric to get out.

Max it was unbelievable how intact the landscape fabric was. Just like new. Would have liked to re-use it, but too risky with the ants, possible ant eggs, etc. Good luck on Jennifer’s flower garden. One step at a time is the best advice I can give to do it.

Isn’t it supposed to disintegrate? I thought it was but it never does. Yea I would not reuse it.

I think it may depend on the kind you buy. If it disintegrates that’s how the grass, weeds, etc. can get in. This stuff is the kind that doesn’t as it’s just like new!

Yea that sucks you can’t reuse it…but that would defeat the purpose.
