Most of us including me oftentimes are taking energy way too much for granted. Changing consumption habits isn’t easy. If everyone would do just a little, the total impact could be significant. To go with your church comparison, sorry, I’m probably preaching to the choir!

LOL I saw what you did there. Yes, if everyone would give just a little, what a difference it would make. I didn’t feel much inconvenience from those hours and planned ahead by cooling in the night, when the air was already cool. Saved money that way also.

This is excellent, Lisa. When we lived in AZ that is exactly what we had to do to avoid double pricing for electricty. It was horrible. LOL!

It makes sense every which way. Thank you, Colleen. I had a guy come out to check my 1 year-old mini-split and he said it’s because the first thing day workers do when they get home is turn on the AC.

LOL! It’s more likely when folks get out of work and school. Everyone’s making dinner and doing laundry. It maxes out the electric grid. We bought solar panels for our house when we lived there. That made sense. $300 electric bills every month were not my idea of fun. LOL!

Glad the poem made you smile. Everything worked out fine, even “without a flask in church” :) Seurat does that pointillism that makes it look grainy. He has more patience than I!

Sadje, good to know we aren’t the only ones doing it. They pulled down a huge coal electric plant here a few years ago and I think that’s why we have to do it now.

We recently got solar panels installed. It was a huge project but we needed it done for the cost of electricity is going up every month. 👍🏼

Con Ed sends us text notifications when it wants us to avoid using dishwashers, washer/dryers, microwaves (who knew?), etc. because the grid is being overused. It’s becoming more and more a necessity. (K)

That seems like a good way to do it, as everyone has a phone these days to get the message. Con En is putting high pressure on us to have them come pick up old energy-hog appliances. If they want to drop a new energy efficient one off to me in exchange, I’ll take it but geez I need my old fridge!

Oh, they do. $25 or $50. I couldn’t even buy a bag of ice for that. Somewhere in the hopefully near future I can do a basic kitchen makeover. My kitchen is very small, and there is a lot of wasted space in there right now.
