Ori ga me.
Fold me as you will;
crease my edges,
point my corners.
Pretty pony?
Salt box fortune teller?
Dragon? Saint?
How shall you bend
and turn me?
Yet I’m paper,
designed for recycle
once binned; or ash
if a match set to.

De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) is today’s host of dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. De says:
write a poem of exactly 44 words, not including title, using the word fold.

It is amazing what a paper can do or what you can do with a paper, yet it will easily be gone.

I used to love origami and gave my grandson a book of origami for children with special coloured paper in it. Your quadrille is a paper folder’s delight!

superb shapes you made here especially “Salt box fortune teller” and a clever use of fold (not least because you illustrated with that most telling Blade runner unicorn!)

I love origami. I just looked up “salt box fortune teller”, is that what those things have been called all along!? Mind. Blown.🤯

I didn’t know that’s what they were until I saw one in an origami book. We used to have a blast with those things as kids.

Me, too! Now I can have fun with them with my kids.😄

Gillena, I know I’ve seen origami on your haiga before. Seems like a good way to distract the mind. Thank you. P.S. I’m continuing to try to find a way to comment on your posts, but so far no success. I’ve tried signing out and back in, using different browsers, signing in and out of blogger, clearing cache, etc. Know that I’m reading your poems and enjoying them :) <3

Good word play all the way around. I like that art…I’ve seen it used in the sixties a lot.

Thank you, Max. I was looking for just the quote to go under an origami image, but then I saw this and knew it was perfect. I remember that art.

lol…I went to college to be a graphic artist…after that I realized that I enjoyed trouble shooting at the place I got a job at more than the graphic stuff…plus it paid more.

“knowing how way leads on to way”… I can see where that could happen. Do you ever do any graphic design now for fun? Something must have led you to choose it first as a field of study?

I didnt’ know what I wanted to do…but I loved Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop…I can’t draw at all…so dont’ think that but I was good at the Adobe projects. I would retouch old photos and love it….and make pamplets and small books…put them together with Adobe Pagemaker.
Sometimes I do get into Illustrator and mess around…and relearn again lol.
