Henri Matisse, “Interior with Egyptian Curtain”
Cats offer us a chance at mindfulness
if one is on our lap and we choose
not to read, phone surf, or stream.
Instead, pet and notice her silky fur,
see how her eyes close, listen to her purr
as you breathe in lilacs on the breeze.

Nice, I do try to do this every morning.

This is lovely! Just like Luna (my cat) – we commune every morning.

Nicely said, cats are lovely pets. Their purring is very soothing. I will add they can also be pretty outmeowen when they want your attention. At least, our two furry ladies are not shy to launch into a meow concert! :-)

My cats are quiet. You’re right about how soothing their purring is. Mlady purrs with even one “pet” but Dotty is more nervous and it takes a lot more to get a small purr out of her. As abused and neglected as she was for years, I consider that small purr quite a victory for her.

When cats do pay attention they go all out usually. I’m more of a dog person but I do like cats…especially purring cats.
