dVerse — Q191 — snow comes to call

snow quadrille

snow comes to call
in bright crystal, grouped
singularities, downed by gravity
yet light at heart
they want to play
reddening our bare noses
tickling our thirsty tongues
sticking and sliding about
in piles and underfoot
men and angels fashioned
in this cold season

I used this program to snow the quadrille.

Björn is today’s host of dVerse’ Quadrille Monday.   Björn wants us to write a 44-word poem using the word snow.

  1. Those red noses is something I really remember… also how we crowned each other in snow at schoolyard.

There is something playful about the cold reddening our noses that I love. In elementary school, throwing snowballs on the playground was not allowed. I decided to violate the rules and the principal paddled me for it, the ol’ b….

I like the personification in ‘snow comes to call’, Lisa, a welcome visitor for some, as it is reddening bare noses and tickling thirsty tongues. I like the idea of ‘men and angels fashioned in this cold season’.

I think “light at heart” captures the poem’s joyfulness, Li, and I love the startling playfulness of snow that climaxes with a deft twist of snow angels fashioned as are men.

I love the playfulness and the happiness that your quadrille evokes – its so strange isn’t it that so many of us dislike the cold and yet the snow just brings out the child in us and we crave to get out there in that white wonderland 💞Suzanne

Good Sunday Morning! You asked what inspired my ‘snowy’ poem … years ago when I composed it I had watched a movie (cannot for the life of me remember which one it was) I ended up sobbing over .. watching early settlers bury their children. That combined with the Wyeth art was the catalyst. Happy Holidays Lisa.
