She’s on to me. And I’ve been so careful.
She doesn’t know me, but she knows me. Despite hats, sunglasses, garment changes, my hiding in the shadows, she catches on. Maybe it’s the way I stand? My tall, sparse frame? Maybe it’s the glint of light off of my telephoto lens?
I think some part of her knows I will always be with her, watching, capturing the spell of her magic; her images now papering the walls of my room – and front covers of tabloids.
Ever since I saw her in, “Pretty Woman,” she’s been mine – and I, hers.

I had to pick some famous female, and I think she resembles Julia Roberts. Don’t worry, Julia, this is 100% fiction.

Oh I love it when it’s some minor elarged detail that makes the story

The price of fame. Julia seems to shun the limelight quite a bit these days, I wonder if this is why!

Well it could be a big or deranged fan or just another day in the paparazzi!

Exactly, Max! I feel sorry for the stars and how they are stalked/hunted. Yes, they asked to be in the limelight, but everybody deserves their private space to relax.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I do also…I think the same…yes they are in the limelight and will get photographed…but flying in helicopters over their house using telescopic lenses is insane.

How horrible! And now they have drones! If you are an ultra star, you can hire someone with a paintball gun to shoot the drones and cover the lens.
Besides the paparazzi money aspect, don’t you think celebrities in all fields have become gods of a sort? When people live in fantasy worlds, they can go nuts when their real live fantasy figure shows up.

I read a quote from Springsteen…which I’ve used a lot…he was getting married in the 80s while helicopters were buzzing all around…and he said “I don’t understand or comprehend the world I live in”
They are looked upon as gods which is so sad…I agree…It’s been made worse with the Kardashians… they don’t sing, create, or anything and people think…oh I can be a star…I’ve seen youtube videos of people trying stupid dangerous stuff just to be famous…to reach that level….I guess that is mean…no offense to them….the Kardashians are good business people….that is for sure.

I think about Springsteen and how much beauty he has brought to the world with his music. When they violate his sacred space, he has become nothing but an object to them. I wish there were those Mission Impossible masks they could wear so nobody knew who they were.
I know who those low-life K…..s are but I avoid any sight, sound, knowledge of them at all costs. I have watched some episodes of “Botched” on netflix about botched plastic surgeries, and every once in awhile they pop in some person who is trying to make themselves look like a star and will pay any price for it. One guy is trying to look like Justin Bieber and another drag star is doing everything he can to look like Madonna. It’s danged creepy!

Yea about the K….s as you said it. I didn’t want to offend anyone who sees this… who likes them…to each their own I guess…but they are the definition of shallow. I just hate that young girls look up to them. It has to be the wealth…because I’ve seen better looking women than Kim walking down the street. I’m not being mean either.
Oh you brought up a great point Lisa. I’ve seen stories of the people saving up their money to look like them. That is so creepy…and Barbie! Which is impossible and remain healthy.

p.s. Just like that video with Ozzy walking through NYC streets. The way they looked at him and some started to follow him made me a little nervous.

Yea…all he had to think about was what happened to the author of the song he was singing.

While I guess nutty people watching every breath you take and every move you make to some extent comes with the territory of being a celebrity, it seems to me oftentimes the paparazzi are completely out of control. I have to say I find it pretty disgusting, but unfortunately, many people are willing to do deranged things if they can earn a buck or two.

Well-said, Christian! I remember Eddie Vedder talking about a crazed fan that I think ran her car into his house so he had to put barricades up :( He wrote a song about it, “This is not for you.”

Well spotted, I would never have seen that, with my eyes etc (you’ll understand when you get to my age etc!) Really exciting to hear Julia Roberts visits this corner of the internet!! Good stuff.

LOL, Shrawl on Julia Roberts. With the pic, if you click on it at Rochelle’s page, it takes you to a blow-up, where you can click anywhere on the pic and it zooms in. I saw 2 people turned to look at the photographer and that gave me the idea.

Nothing worse than a stalking paparazzi or is he more sinister?

I like how you used a minor detail like the girl there. Gotta say, any story with strangers that includes a telephoto lens is automatically creepy, haha. Great job.

I’m sure Julia has had her share of unsolicited stalkers. Sad that it comes with fame.

For sure. With drones it is even worse. A few years ago I agreed to meet my older son for lunch. I brought the lunch and bag chairs and we sat at the end of the parking lot where he parked his car to eat, talk, and enjoy a beautiful summer day. While we were talking, I noticed a sound and looked around until I tracked that it was coming from above us. Sure enough, a drone was there, watching (listening to) us. I gave it the double eagles and it flew away.

Dear Lisa,
Nothing wins my heart faster than a writer who thinks outside the box. I love that you took a small detail and ran with it. Creepy and well written stalker.

Oh, Lisa. What an incredible take on this photo. The camera lens focuses in on one things, the background goes blurry. and the director shouts “Action!” Not to mention I adore “Pretty Woman” – the ultimate happily ever after Cinderella story – and the divine Julia Roberts. Excellent story.
