Remember Blessings

Winter’s cold horse laughs
Fog mist overlaps slate grey
Blue’s empty promise
I remember my blessings
Turn away from self-pity
Towards home, slippers, and hot tea

That picture of the carousel horse…creeps me out a little. It’s kinda like a Twilight Zone shot. I’ve probably watched too many of them!

Max, if you click on the link of the horse, you’ll see how humongous it is. This is a carousel horse on steroids! :) Yes, it is creepy. When we walked out to it yesterday it was all foggy out there. I’ve taken many pics of it over the years but this was the first one from this angle. My camera was pointing up into its face.

Oh ok! That is much better.
That is why it’s so creepy…the fog. The pointing up helped also.

  6. While you came up with three poems from directions I don’t understand, I like the outcome! :-)

I think my favorite is the last poem, given the anticipation of spring! :-)

      1. That’s how I look at it as well, Lisa.😀

Frankly, I oftentimes use the same approach with song lyrics that look mystifying to me. As long as I dig the music, I generally don’t worry much about the words.

The violet was a gift from a friend. First one I’ve been able to keep alive for this long. To see it getting ready to bloom again is a joy.

Only poets can see the laughter of the horse!! And the “white flag” of winter is a beautiful way to say that its power is diminishing. Lovely poetry Lisa.

Lovely verses. Yes, to be thankful for all we do have.
My African Violets must have a good spot as they seem to bloom all year round. I have not tried it but I have read that you can start a new plant with just one leaf. My one plant has some huge leaves!!

Looking forward to warmer days – though it was only 35F this morning.

Oh nice on your African Violets blooming year-round. I moved mine from the east window to the south window, which I think has made a difference because it gets more light and less draft. Neat that you can start a new plant with just a leaf. Jules, I love this plant, but I already have way WAY too many plants because I did just that with my jade plant and other succulents as well as the spider plants.

I’ve gifted some plants away. I’m trying to cut down on the plants I can’t eat ;)

My Violets get the morning sun and no draft at all. I know plants are good for you – but they can also be like children… you don’t want to leave them for too long ;)

I don’t have enough to sell. When the weather gets better I might just take small cuttings… for the house and leave the rest at the edge of the rural mail box with a ‘Free’ sign!
