Spring is wiggling its way…

It was sunny part of yesterday, and at 5:27p.m., it is still light out AND it was sunny all day today.  First are pics taken inside of the African Violet (above) and the rosemary in bloom in the atrium.

Next, are a couple of the prickly pear cactus plant.  I believe every one of the little nubs will grow into another lobe, or maybe some will become spines and some lobes?  Time will tell.  It was outside all winter in the carport to keep it dry but yesterday I set it where the sun could reach it.

The next couple had me going ga-ga when I discovered them.  Not sure why some are orange and some yellow, but behold the blossoms on the witch hazel bushes!

This next one isn’t a plant, but it is the first time I ever saw this phenomenon on the reflector by the side of the driveway:

This last thing is a video, and not a very good one, but I heard a hawk and tried to capture it on video.  You can hear it more than see it.  The hawks are getting rambunctious lately as are the crows and the smaller birds.

Thanks, Max. With the violet the sunlight was behind it. Have you ever seen a reflector do that? I haven’t.

Happy you have heard one now. Mostly you hear crows, but at the very beginning is the hawk.

Beautiful signs of Spring on its way. We have noticed a recent uptick in bird singing here. I think the warmer temperatures and sunny skies certainly have triggered this chorus!

Bruce, I’m included in that chorus! It’s another sunny and 40F day here. Can’t ask for more than that in Feb.

  9. Pretty weird to be thinking of spring in early February, but it is maple sugaring weather here. Since I expect winter to return at some point, I won’t tap my tree and risk stressing it before that. The tree will probably get a year off.

Steve, that’s very cool that you make your own maple syrup. I won’t eat anything else on my pancakes, french toast, etc. I also like to put a little in yogurt. YUM.
