Jeremy’s Wonderland
Jin’s plan began a decade ago, when she overheard Jeremy’s treacled chat with “Snookums” over the phone. While socking away every spare cent, Jin also accessed home improvement grant resources to install dual waterlines. One was connected to treated city water, for in-home use, and one was connected to the arsenic-contaminated well from industrial times, intended for lawn watering.
Every evening, Jin served Jeremy a cup or two of his favorite bedtime tea – with well water.
Jeremy’s descent into madness was difficult to watch but also morbidly satisfying for Jin.
Snookums is Jeremy’s only visitor at the asylum these days…

A fitting tale for the photo. The curved section of water line looks suspiciously like lead.

Oh wow. I hope the person whose photo this is sees your comment. She may have a problem she isn’t aware of.

Snookums is loyal, at least. That’s a very inventive way to rid herself of the two timer.

Yes, Snookums is, bless their heart. Thanks much, Margaret. Jin is a patient person!

You pulled off a dark, sinister tale from the happy photo prompt!

When I see a water system setup like that I think why does it need to be that complicated? Of course my mind takes a dark turn, knowing human nature as I do. Thanks, Clare!

So why am I smiling? A man is bonkers, and I think it’s funny? Hmmmm.

Dear Lisa,
Health hath no fury as a woman scorned. Jin knew how to plan and you knew how to write it. Well done.

I wonder if she is happy now, after all that time waiting for revenge. But she seems the type to enjoy the slow decline. I do like Snookums.

Thanks, Gabi. Some comments wonder why she didn’t leave him. Why isn’t anyone asking why Jeremy didn’t leave her?

I wondered about that but that wasn’t his story but hers.

Gabi, thanks for taking time to think about the story <3

Should I smile? A woman’s deadly revenge would drive anyone mad, without the poisoned well water.

LMAO, James. I guess we could say it was overkill? But he isn’t dead, yet no longer quite alive either…

A tale of commitment. One committed to revenge, the other committed to a person. And one committed. Can’t say fairer than that.

Thanks, Michael. I like what someone else (Kerfe) said about what a waste of years for Jin. I hope she woke up after “mission accomplished.”

My roommate has a work friend, and they call each other Snookums.
It seems Jeremy’s instincts were right. Snookums is that ride or die. He should have been smarter and left Jin when he could have. Now that the story’s out, Jin may end up in the asylum right next to him, and she doesn’t have a Snookums to visit her.
