First pic is of the dawn redwood, now a year old. I learned that they have leaves that look like evergreens but they drop them in the fall, like larch. The tallest one, you can see the bright green on the stem/trunk which is the new growth this year. I also planted some seeds from last year and 3 of them are still alive that sprouted.
The African Violets are loving the south window with regular feedings.

It’s the first time I’ve gotten one to thrive like this.
#1: water only from bottom. water on leaves rots them. #2 let them dry out between waterings #3 use African Violet specific food (drops) in every watering. #4 south window indirect light.

I worried my peonies were done for after being transplanted last year. But, they’ve come back. I have one plant that had zero buds. He was the smallest, so I hope next spring there will be buds.

:) I’m geeked about planting some of the seeds Jules gave me (birdhouse gourds, Jacob’s ladder, and balloon flowers) but have to get the beds ready first. I also just planted 7 ginkgo seeds my younger son collected from a tree at his dentist’s. I’ve had them in the fridge all winter. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Gorgeous African Violets, Lisa. There were a whole bunch on the “plant table” at CVS that looked like someone set fire to them, that’s how dry those poor babies were. I’m sure you can guess where they are now! That dawn redwood is looking fine; when can you plant it in the ground? Love these pix; I can just about feel the dirt under my nails! PS – LSoH incoming. ETA 1AM NY time.

Of course! I took the lot home and they’re doing well. I hope they bloom. Poor things were traumatized.
I suppose if you have cold weather/strong winds, it might be best to keep it in the bucket for now.
