Lisa, we definitely have a few bees filling their pocketbooks around here too. We try to make it easy for them to do so. 🐝

  6. This week definitely feels more like June than May. Unfortunately, they’re forecasting scattered thunderstorms for Thursday afternoon & evening – just in time for The Rolling Stones – sigh!

Christian, you’re going to see The Rolling Stones???? Oh how I envy you. Is it a venue where the band is sheltered from storms? I hope so. Just put your rain gear on, or do a Woodstock and play in the mud :)

      1. Yep, at MetLife Stadium. I’m pretty sure stage has a roof, so the Stones should be. I’ll bring my rain poncho and hope for the best!😀

Ah… so that is what my lilacs might look like? I have a cutting that is perhaps two years old now. No blooms yet, but it survived the winter and is growing :)

And I’ve gotten some large iris – one has bloomed peach and purple – Ahhhh…. so pretty.

Jules, I bought those lilacs as potted plants probably 10 years ago now. They’ve been moved a few times, and I think they’ve finally found their forever home in yard as this is the best blooming all 3 of them have had.

Peach and purple iris sounds *divine*. I love thumbing through the jung seed catalog at all of the iris. Would love to have a field of them!

There was a gent… now gone who raised prized iris. I never did get one from him. He had quite a business selling those rizomes. I don’t think the new folks are using his iris patch for the same purpose. The wife – who sold and moved since…. might have taken up the remaining iris? There might be a few iris near the front of the drive though.

Jules, I think this soil is perfect for iris (and grass.) I’m trying to imagine the prized iris and sorry you didn’t get any of the rhizomes :( You might ask the neighbor if you could dig up a few?

I’ve got the two pots… so that’s good enough. Especially if they spread.
Good luck with all of your flowers and plants – I still haven’t planted any seeds yet.

Thanks on the flowers and plants. I’ve planted many of the seeds you gave me. I was too late for the birdhouse gourds after reading planting instructions. Next year for sure. Didn’t plant the balloon flowers or Jacob’s ladder yet. Lots of seeds sprouting in the new bed.

While it may be late… I might try some flower seeds after I get back from some weekends away – I don’t have anyone to water and the air just pulls out the moisture.

                Good luck on those sprouts!
