May has seemed to go by in a glorious whirl. Traveling over to fmg once a week and being out and about in nature, I’ve taken way more pics this month than there has been time to post. Including them here or a fair number of them. Also, a song at the end, “Slight Return,” by The Bluetones, who showed up on SRR but after a search show no new releases or rereleases that I know of. Their discography, per wiki:
| The Bluetones discography | |
|---|---|
| Studio albums | 6 |
| Live albums | 1 |
| Compilation albums | 6 |
| Video albums | 4 |
| EPs | 3 |
| Singles | 20 |
I love their sound. Give them a listen and let me know what you think.
Where did you go?
When things went wrong for you
When the knives came out for you
Where did you go?
All you needed was a friend
You just have to ask and then
You don't have to have the solution
You've got to understand the problem
And don't go hoping for a miracle
All this will fade away
So I'm coming home
I'm coming home
What did you learn?
Locked away all on your own
Chance and your head all blown
What did you learn?
It was unfortunate
You missed your chance to find out that
You don't have to have the solution
You've got to understand the problem
And don't go hoping for a miracle
All this will fade away
So I'm coming home
I'm coming home
You don't have to have the solution
You've got to understand the problem
And don't go hoping for a miracle (yeah)
All this will fade away
So I'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
But just for a short while

Carol Anne, happy to hear it. I find the music relaxing also, the way it repeats, almost a mantra.

Very tranquil video, Lisa. The Bluetones are new to me…pretty cool tune. They have a lot more history than I expected to find. Surprised I never came across them until now!

Bruce glad you like their sound. The song sounded vaguely familiar when I heard it but they are new to me and was also surprised by their discography.

Flowing water has such a soothing effect – unless of course it’s flooding! :-)
When I saw “Slight Return”, my thoughts immediate went to Jimi Hendrix. I’m planning a related post, so I guess he was on my mind. That said, “Slight Return” by The Bluetones sounds mighty sweet!

Glad you found the video soothing.
Did Jimi write one called “Slight Return”?

Similar. There’s a song by the Jimi Hendrix Experience called “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).” It’s my favorite Hendrix song, along with “Purple Haze” and “Foxy Lady.” :-)

Did not know that was part of the title but I know that song :) My favorite one has castles in it but forgot the name.

Nice sound. A slightly more cheerful Smiths.
May has been good to your camera and your psyche as well! (K)

Good description of them, K. 100% agree on the 2nd sentence. Seeing the family regularly too.

I have a draft of The Bluetones…I forgot which song…they are up my alley. They were part of that Britpop thing I believe.
Love the pictures as always.

Max, I thought you’d like this group. Not surprised you’d have a draft started of them. That fountain is at the entrance to the Japanese Garden at fmg. Was happy to see the bonsai forest back outside.

They are very close…or are power pop to me.
I would like to get a bonsai again…I loved the one I had.

From what I can see, they take a lot of work over a long period of time. But oh are they gorgeous! Glyn just gave me a couple of other good songs of theirs that I’ve added to the comments.

I’ve been enjoying your FMG photos, amazed at just how much there is to see there. I don’t know a lot of the Bluetones’ music but like their sound and vibe. Great Britpop. Thank you.
