Baby Daddy

Such a perfect day: high sixties, rose fragrance on gentle breeze, birds chirping. The world is happy – except for Harald. The shadow of his predicament creates an impenetrable barrier to any joy.

Loretta will pick him up soon. The flirtation with the home health aid gave him flutters in his belly and a lift in his Depends. Pure and carefree Loretta blushed easily with his double entendres. When he held her hand she didn’t pull away.

Loretta’s springy step as she approaches raises the bile in his throat.

Honey, I’ve decided on a name if it’s a boy: Harald, Jr.!”

“a lift in his Depends”, now there’s an image I didn’t need. Sounds like they are in a predicament indeed!

Oh dear. Methinks Loretta is not quite the up and up home health aid she should be. Makes me think of the movie “I Care A Lot” – they only care about the money they can finagle out of rich, unsuspecting older folk!

Dale, thanks for sharing your perspective on the situation. Many eyes give a seasoned perspective on any situation. I saw that movie and it made my stomach turn :(

What was your intent? Curious minds want to know. (I love when someone sees something way outside of what I intended…)
They were something else, weren’t the? Ms Pike is particularly good at playing such…

I don’t see a “bad guy” in the story. He has the advantage of age and she has the vulnerability of youth. What started out as innocence turned into something else.

Ms. Pike needed to be thrown into a pit of vipers.

Plaridel, hadn’t thought about that, but you’re right. I know elderly men can father babies biologically, but did this elderly man father her baby? Paternity test definitely needed to rule in or out.

As much as home health aid costs, it’s only right that he gets a little extra attention. Though, it seems he got more than he bargained for.

My first thought is that he should know better than mess around with Loretta. However, is she just teasing him or is he wealthy. You have given an emotional situation that keeps me guessing.

I understand, James. Unfairly also, I’ve seen my fair share of “dirty old men” who foist themselves on young servers of one kind or another and am suspicious of them. I hope it was mostly innocent in how it began…

  23. Dear Lisa,

I love “a lift in his depends.” You set his age as being up there without telling us. Put me in mind of Holling and Shelly in Northern Exposure (which I streamed after you fan fiction a while back ;) )

    Fun story.
