Purple Reign’s still green,
lost in the texture of it;
rejuvenated,
rain will grant lush promises:
wet chins with every bite.

Note:  purple reign is a variety of heirloom tomato.  This is a pic of mine from this morning.  No sign of purple yet.  It rained heavily all day yesterday, which every living thing loved.

Kigo used: tomato

  1. The tomatoes look beautiful! Are they too sour to try at this stage, or can they be eaten?

      Thank you, Gia. I think they could be turned into fried green tomatoes? Haven’t tried to prepare them like that before. First time growing Purple Reign (don’t you just love the name?) so we’ll see.

    I like the two uses of rain/reign… I can relate in the heat we are in now….I hope rain reigns.

      Oh so cool, Max, I didn’t even notice the two uses. It was 95 in GR at the gardens. We stayed inside in the AC today. Can only imagine what your temps were. I will send you some rain.

    Oh yum! Heirlooms are so delicious. I almost had my first one but the effing groundhog got it first!

    Nicely done.

      Oh right, I remember that pic. I wish you could have got a shot (with the camera! lol) of him eating it.

        I should have. Silly me. (I now wish I had.) I was too mad at him getting my first (and only!) red tomato. He ate the green ones withing reach, too. That plant has only one left at the very top!

      Robbie, thank you. About as close to a smile as a plant can get after the rain.

    I only did cherry tomatoes this year. One was called a Black cherry. I notice that the skin was perhaps thicker?

    Continued success with your garden!

        Besides the thicker skin (to the tooth) like a tomato – not sweet though.

    that opening Line is precious, Lisa. It sure reminded me of “Nature’s first green is gold,” —great vibe. And your explanation clarified things for me. Lovely tanks. Blessings
