Colleen Chesebro is the host of TankaTuesday. Colleen gave us some possible kigo to write to, which I used:
#1: “summer celebrations”
#2: “swimming pools”
#3: “melons” (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc.)
Michelle (aka Mish) is today’s host for dVerse’ Open Link Night.

These are delightful, Lisa. I love watermelon

Thanks, Robbie. That one was inspired by the watermelon waiting on my kitchen counter :)

Thanks, Max. My folks had an above ground pool with a walkway around it when the kids were young. We had a lot of fun in it. Good times.

We had a pool around 15 miles away we would all go to…such good memories there…they closed it down and filled it in for some reason.

That’s a bummer they filled in the pool. People need it more than ever!

A summery series of celebration, Lisa! I especially like ‘green love’ from ‘grandfather sun’, the ripple of ‘cool promises’ (I’m slow lane swimming tomorrow morning), and the ‘parched palates’ quenched by water melon, which I have for breakfast with strawberries and yogurt.

Kim, I’m sure the slow lane swimming tomorrow will cool you right off. Have never tried watermelon that way but sounds very yummy and refreshing.

Lovely poetic snapshots of summer, Li! That grandfather sun is very hot right now, and that watermelon will be refreshing.

It’s like a humid furnace out there right now but thankfully grandfather is lost in the clouds. Thanks much, Merril, happy you enjoyed the snapshots.

So very well constructed, and reads with touches of a tale or fable…last stanza! Ah the watermelon…
