These pics were all taken on 073024. As I was driving to GR, son texted that an accident on 96 had a major traffic snarl, so I exited at Alpine to Leonard and Leonard to East Beltline. It took close to an hour longer to get there with so much traffic climbing off the highway and taking alternative routes. They got stuck in the 96 jam and we all ended up getting there around the same time.
The outside temp was 95F in GR and my car is out of freon for the AC so I had the windows open. Thankfully I had liquids to stay hydrated.
We decided to stay inside in the AC. That said we did walk through the arid garden, the carnivorous plants garden, and the tropical gardens. So many things are in bloom inside. The plants grow happier in the heat. It kind of reminds me of that scene in Melancholia where the woman is basking in the moonlight. Kinda creepy when you think about it.
Anyway, here’s the captures of the floral lovelies. They are in random order.

Love the red blossom…but I have to go with the Venus Flytrap…those plants interest me so much.

They sure know how to take care of floral carnivorous beasties there.

Whew! It’s humid today (Friday) 79% and the temperature is 78. You know it feels like 89!! I enjoyed your photos! 💖

Thanks, Colleen. It was 85 here today with absolutely no wind. I stayed inside all day. I’m on the Consumers Energy plan of not using AC or other high energy devices from 2-6pm and from 6-7p the energy cost is higher also, so I cool the house down all night and it stays pretty cool during those 5 hours.

We do something similar. Plus, we installed ceiling fans. That really helps! We cool the house down after 9 pm so we can sleep. After the new windows, the holds the temp well during the day. Stay cool, Lisa! 🥵

What a gorgeous variety of blossoms, Lisa! The heat is brutal and we run the A/C all day. We live in an apartment that stays fairly cool until the afternoon. Our utilities are on a flat plan so we know what to expect. When we lived in Florida, our untilies were twice as much as what we pay now. 💗

Sorry for the late response, just found your comment in my spam folder. I agree with you on the blossoms. They never fail to amaze. I’m so glad you have your A/C. I’ve started running the A/C at night when it is cooler and am on a peak times plan where I don’t run it from 2-7pm and save $$ that way.

Such lovely flowers, though the one at the bottom looks quite scary. 🤓

The very last pic? That’s sundew, which has sticky glue on the leaves that bugs get stuck to when they land or walk on them. There seems to be an unlimited supply of pretty flowers at that place.

Yes, that’s the one. That’s so smart. As scary as it is for bugs and myself, I still kind of want to touch it. 🤓 Thanks for the sundew detail. ❤️
