Cool Verve
When gilded sunlight daubs the verve in fall
A cooler brush upon one’s face and arms
As homely augur tickles with its charms
Along meandered gardens do we walk
Within scorch rays and temps that burn us all,
Tenaciousness unwelcome in its harms,
An agent wakes, diminishes with smarm
To gilded sunlight daubs cooled verve in fall
Like feathers readied, gathered in cabals
Of common goal in sculptures, fields, and farm
Breathe in the scent of ripened fruit, confirm
Along meandered gardens do we walk
When gilded sunlight daubs the verve in fall
When summer, noticed to evict, departs
Along meandered gardens do we walk

Grace is today’s host of dVerse’ Meeting the Bar/Forms. Grace would like us to write a poem in the villonnet form.

This is an extraordinary poem, Lisa. Truly beautiful. Clearly, your visits to FMG have inspired you! Thank you.

Steve, so pleased you enjoyed the poem. It does seem like summer needs to be cajoled to leave. Thank you.

Love the coming of autumn, certainly a cooler brush to our face and arms. The garden walk is inviting specially with -Breathe in the scent of ripened fruit. Love your garden photo too.

I love the oxymoronic title, Lisa, laid back and full of vigour and enthusiasm, and the way ‘gilded sunlight daubs the verve in fall’ made me smile. A delightful walk with you this morning, breathing in the scent of ripened fruit.

No I had no idea. I don’t think I have ever been to see an author on tour.

Thank you for taking me along on this wonderful walk. The bonsai trees are amazing and your poem tranquil. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the word smarm in poetry.
