I love watching birds eat.
Mama Cardinal hops along,
testing each bit with her beak
to see if it’s edible. She rolls
them with her tongue
and keeps the tasty bits,
but gives the best away.
Mlady and Dotty love watching
them also; inches apart,
separated by a thin screen,.
Dotty twitches. Mama chirps
and she and her young fly away.

We love our cardinals here. :-)

This puts me in mind of “A Bird, came down the Walk” by Emily Dickinson…love the imagery.

That one sticks in my head…it’s so abrupt. I found out about it while reading about the 1920s.

I remember watching a movie about Dickinson’s life and how much pain she had and how she was bedridden. Nature must have brought her respite.
