dVerse Q 211 — ponies pathos

circus_ponies_in_charcoal_by_blaisedrew62-d39lgcqCircus Ponies in Charcoal,” by blaisedrew62

ponies pathos

election day descends upon us
spirit continues of Halloween
candidates rev and mock us
pandering to dreams with lies
flimsy carry-through on promise
beholden to their special interests

seeking shred of salving solace
crumbs of beneficence to glean
from shamprance of ponies’ pathos

This is a quadrille, but also a Magic 9 form poem that Grace introduced us to back in May.

Lillian is today’s host for dVerse Quadrille Monday. Lillian wants to write a 44-word poem using the word promise.

Chris I think I’m going to start compiling a list of nicknames people have for him. I’ve heard so many that are hilarious and fit.

Will be sooooo glad when election is over and my emails are cut by a bazillion percent….just hoping the election goes in a sane way where we have a President our children and grandchildren can look up to as a role model. “nuff said!

Dwight, now that I’ve voted, I’d like to just hibernate for a month or two. My son did in-person early voting yesterday (a Sunday!) for the first time. I guess MI passed a law to allow it. He estimated about 200 people were there to vote and he was done in a half hour. Sunday was the 2nd day it was in effect so the lines were expected to be long, I guess. I’m heartened by the big increase in the number of people coming out to vote.

I did as well. It took us about twenty minutes. The line was steady, with drive up voting for those who could not come in. I will be so glad to stop hearing the sorry ads that come across the screen every ten minutes.

I love the idea of drive up voting! I voted by mail. Our township hall has a box outside that you can drop you ballots in so I saved someone postage by doing it that way.

Christine, thank you. I have watched a few clips of the rally held at Madison Square Garden and it’s the worst and most vicious attacks yet on immigrants :( Between his reviling women’s rights to expelling between 2-17 million people on “my first day” I pray you are right about women voters turning out.

Indeed, Li, the whole world is wound tight when so much depends on the result. I wish that Kamala would roll back on total support for Israel and clinch the Moslem vote…

Andrew, I understand and hope that shifts once she’s in office. I haven’t heard her say too much about “total support for Israel” or in what form (eg weaponry vs humanitarian aid) but I haven’t been watching the news religiously.

They maneuver things so we have little choice, while the # of billionaires keep increasing. We need to take the money out of politics. I’d be in favor of a lottery IF we could guarantee it wasn’t fixed, and I don’t think there is a way to do it.

We are watching with bated breath the farcical circus that is taking place. I dread to think what will happen if the orange one should pip Kamala to the post. I was hoping that all American women would stand behind her, but a recent programme on UK television showed some of the evil one’s female supporters – are they completely insane?

Kim, I think some women are being intimidated by their husbands, but what happens in the polling booth stays in the polling booth, and f*** them if her face gives her away and he hassles her for her choice. I honestly see him as a flim-flam snake charmer who panders to the worst of human nature. My mother absolutely adored him! I think he reminded her of my stepdad in his blustering put-downs and crazy blind confidence.
