winter solstice bells ring out with knowing
tall candles light each window
toasts to lengthening days
Since I used the dodoitsu for #10, I’ll use the kimo form for this week.
kigo: winter solstice
Colleen Chesebro is the host of Tanka Tuesday.

Lovely. I love the idea of 24 seasons!

Dale, thank you. We’re doing the whole 24 seasons on Tanka Tuesday. Each season goes for 2 weeks. Not sure what the last 4 weeks will bring. There’s also a calendar with 72 micro seasons!

It’s a good’n and it has grown on me. That whole album Songs from the Woods, is mystical and seasonal for me. It’s on my holiday song playlist that am posting on Friday also.

Thank you, Luanne. I liked using it. First time. I think maybe there is too much motion in it, per the guidelines, but I still like how it turned out. Practice practice practice.

Happy Solstice, Lisa! Thanks for the Jethro Tull song to remind folks who only know them for their radio hits of their roots.

Happy Solstice, Steve. You’re right, the radio songs are the tip of the iceberg. Just like Dylan music.
