New to me but definitely picking up that Madonna vibe!

Nice to see younger artists picking up the torch.

You could do worse than emulating Madonna!

Jessie Ware’s name sounded familiar but I can’t remember why. Perhaps I previously came across her during my weekly quest to look for new music. Anyway, I also agree there’s a Madonna vibe in that video!

She has an exotic sound…I like the first song with the backup singers….that was incredible. Thanks for another new one!

My pleasure, Max, glad you like her sound.

This is what blogs should be about…sharing about artists you don’t hear every day. Ok…not every single one but you get my point.

I think I took a CD of hers out of the library at some point and was not that impressed. But I really like the African vibe of that first song. To me her voice is much more effective there than in the second one, although I also see the Madonna vibe. (K)

I’d like to give her some more listens. I like the video of the 2nd one.

Outstanding! Li, you are on a roll with this series! I love this woman’s sound. The two songs are so beautiful and energetic… I’m “chair dancing” as I listen and write! Taking note of Jessie Ware for sure. (I too was a reminded a bit of Madonna in the second video.)

I love Jessie Ware. She has a soul influence so I don’t think Madonna is the best reference, she’s a bit like Sade sometimes. So many great songs already – I love Night Light, Champagne Kisses.

Very cool and thank you for the spotify playlist! I’ll listen to it while playing Carcassone :)

I think my daughter played Carcasonne with my mum yesterday. We have a ton of board games here, but not that one.

We have a lot of board games, including this one, but since covid we play our games through Steam. I’m hooked on Carcassonne and mostly play against the computer. It’s a fun game!

It’s nice to get off the screen sometimes though. My wife and I love Ark Nova, which usually takes two hours and is very immersive.

Never heard of Ark Nova but am always on the lookout for new games. We have many board games that we used to play regularly, when Covid hit, we found the online versions. Now that there is a toddler in the picture, it may be awhile before we get back to the board games. Another cool “game” I recently played on Steam is about an alchemist shop and crafting potions, “Potion Craft Alchemist.” I will look and see if Ark Nova is available on Steam and if so will check it out.

“Lift You Up” – Jessie Ware’s duet with Romy – was one of my favorite tracks last year. (Romy would be a good addition to your Women’s Music series if you’re taking suggestions).
