A2Z 2025 — Day 6 — Froggies!

Looks like I picked a good color scheme for the Celtic letter F, as it matches with one (or more) of the froggies.  You may or may not know it, but I collect frogs.  They are zen masters of transformation, and they sing so pretty.  I’ve already heard spring peepers on a warmer day we had.

Froggie Welcome

Both of the above froggies were gifts to me.  The bonneted ones were a gift from my mom.  She loved to give me cute little doo-dads like this, usually from the dollar store.  I used to smile and think how stupid and cheap these are but now I’m ashamed.  This was her way of showing affection, and I discounted it.  Mom, wherever you are, please forgive me.

The other froggy was a gift from a friend of mine.  We worked together for years and have continued the friendship after my retirement in 2018.  She’s still slaving away and counting the years down.  The frog is all-weather and can be used as a lantern.  It’s been inside most of the time but I decided to put it outside, to greet visitors with the bonneted mom ones.

Stone Frog

I do not remember where I bought the stone frog.  I just remember seeing it and knowing it needed to come home with me.  As you can see by the empty sunflower seed shells, she sits near one of the hanging bird feeders.  There have been innumerable chipmunks and small squirrels sitting on her back.  She doesn’t mind.

Living Frog

This pic was taken in 2016 and is one taken with my real camera (I had a flip phone back then.)  The frog was one of many who lived out in the ditch along the road.  There was a lot more water in the front ditch back then.  The several new blueberry farms that have sprouted up north of here have sucked a lot of groundwater up.

How do you feel about frogs?

What?! It rests on Sundays? So good to know, thanks. Gives me time to catch up from yesterday. Are you doing it rogue (or rouge as Jim calls it)?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yes, 30 days – 4 Sundays = 26 letters of the alphabet. By not posting on Sundays, there’s a day for each letter of the alphabet and everything will line up at the end of the month. Since you posted today, you might want to skip tomorrow and pick up again on Tuesday. No harm, no foul. I registered; this is my first challenge so I might as well do it right!

  3. I think I’ve always had mixed feelings about frogs. I find them cute as objects, in real life I prefer some distance. I think I most of all feel uncomfortable with them because I never know what direction they’ll jump next. Perhaps I’ll need to get to know them better. Your frogs are really cute!

Thanks for sharing your feelings on them. They are cold-blooded and eat bugs, which I think works against them.

  5. The sound of spring peepers (tiny but loud frogs) is one of my main harbingers of spring. A ride in the country with spring peepers is heaven on earth.

  11. I really like frogs! Where we are staying at the moment is located beside a large stream. At the moment, there are tons of frogs singing at night. We hear them when we return from our walk each night. Lovely post, Lisa! :)

I love frogs, and I too have several frog statuettes in my garden, including one by the front steps. I particularly like your stone frog.

Every March I can’t wait for the first evening of spring peepers because then I know winter is really over.

Nice to know about your froggies, and yes, spring peepers are announcing it. Then dandelions, which I’ve seen no sign of yet. It’s been too cold to bring them out.
