dVerse OLN 385 — Drawing a Diagram (for v2.0)

Drawing a Diagram (for v2.0)

I want to draw you a diagram, soon to be historical
document, with teaching strands emerging from
viscid entanglements of our, failed prototype v1.0’s,
reign. Toxic dew condenses, has us trapped in
compulsively terminal decisions with 10,000 things.

Holy Coder’s beta testing of v1.0’s repurposed clay,
envy-clawed souls, and wonky circuitry began with
big banged hangover after partying all night with
(pre-castout) Satan, then heady head of “elevated
life form” (ELF) research & development department.

Imminent panangulations have reached v1.0’s end.
Concluding evaluation report, with recommendations:

Species hastened, yet also slowed, to a tick, tick,
tick of timer set to blow some to hell, where heavy
metal Adams will sink, screaming, to be boiled clean
in magma’s core, combusting souls forevermore.

Remaining prototypes will flash to fine powder ash,
better serving as fertilizer to restore balance to Earth,
supple, meant to re-garden once peaceable kingdom
to be rehoused in a kinder, sturdier, gentler v2.0.

Holy Coder’s new Head ELF, Mother Gaia, paradox
of altruistic self-serving, will balance home to rest easy.
She, a being worthy of the name Goddess, serves all.

Rebooted – if project isn’t wholly discarded – will see
neutralized “higher functions.” True, we will miss pretty
poems and other creative things, but, the 2.0 “we”
will never know. We’ll abide, satisfied with being.

Björn is today’s host of dVerse’ Open Link Night.   Thanks for the encouragement on submitting.

Wow, Lisa! I had to read your poem several times. The ‘repurposed clay, envy-clawed souls’ grabbed my attention, and I’m seriously concerned about the ‘imminent panangulations’. I hope someone will save the ‘pretty poems and other creative things’.

I’m listening to lectures on Orwell and am haunted by the end of 1984. I think that will be the real end of humanity, when all emotions have been sterilized.

  10. Ooooch, Lisa, after that terse pre-release documentation I didn’t dare to listern to REM. I have to take my darkness in small doses these days, and to lick up the humour in your writing when I can.

Of course, I welcomed the lady Gaia on the scene – while believing that even she gets discouraged, and welcomes the sound of innocent laughter and joy to restore her faith in the Project and the Process

    Sending love x

Kathy, understandable. The REM title’s bark is worse than its bite. I like what you see in lady Gaia’s character and also hope she may let us hang around (in some form or another.) Maybe sentient earthworms? ;)

      1. Sentient earthworms would do me fine. In my pre-student days we very tenderly dissected earthworms to learn their structure and I was fascinated by their distributed brains – a silvery patch of nerve cells in each segment. So sentient already, and also”not as we know it”… ~

          2. Li, to make you smile, here’s what I posted to the gratitude feed of Wildmind Meditation Community:

Grateful I was awake early enough to catch my train to Inverness in good time, having taken all my medication in the right order.

Grateful for two cyclists from mid-Wales who verified the brief appearance of two Red Kites circling high, high up over Brora station, enjoying the thermals. Red Kite is my Spirit Bird.

Grateful for a US friend called Lisa in dVerse Poets community. We had a delightful conversation about the sentience of worms and I successfully posted an earthworm emoticon on WordPress. For me that is Advanced Level Smartphone.

Kathy, I thought you were talking about human-constructed red kites at first lol! Just googled the real feathered ones. What a gorgeous being to be your Spirit Bird! Good to know they are near, watching over you.

You touch my heart at the mention of our conversation about worms <3 I have yet to figure out how to use emoticons on WP on the PC.

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday. I just got in from watering the plants. A beautiful sight yesterday was seeing a hummingbird visiting chive blossoms. First time ever!

You went in hard, with dystopian gusto — I wonder if you composed in stream of consciousness, letting thoughts and keyboard run wild, or fought hard to hit in the right dosage…I suspect a bit of the former. Very interesting write, you really went for it, and got there, definitely…a grim, cold world.

Ayn, I just finished a 24-lecture stint of learning about George Orwell. He would love your term, “dystopian gusto.” The idea poured out as stream of consciousness but then had to get whipped into the right form. It’s funny how the actors pop out in the tweaking process. Satan as the pre-fall head of R&D for v1.0 was unexpected. Thank you for really reading the poem.
