July baby days at the lake
we pack up dry gear to
get wet
We arrive as sun starts to slake
sugar sand has now cooled
no sweat
Lay out blanket, toss off layers
she toddles for shallows
we laugh
She floats on a turtle with air
pushed by ring of shadows
riff-raffed

I love the way you laid out your poem, Lisa, like ebbing waves on the lake. Delightful memories!

Selma, we usually sit on towels in the car and air dry. Always a fun time. I’m sure you know, with your new grandchild <3

Robbie, I’m so happy that it does. We’ve always lived near Lake Michigan and inland lakes, so it is part of our family DNA at this point. Thank you <3

Nothing governs which memories are to become the most awesome mementos, to be treasured and revisited as anniversaries – lovely, Li…
