Toad Vs. Frog

Son attended No More Kings march in GR earlier in the day.  A friend attended one in town earlier in the day.  We attended one later in the day.  At all 3 places, the gatherings were peaceful, and there were no signs of magates, disruptors, ICE, etc.  The mood in the crowds was positive and energetic.  The more the regime attacks, the more we arise to resist.  One estimate is 7 million across the USA.  No idea elsewhere in the world.  Please share in comments what your experience of October 18 was, info on numbers in America and across the globe will be very appreciated.

THE FROGS HAVE IT

One big change in this protest was the inspiration The Portland Frog brought to it.  There were several frogs and other inflatables in the crowd.

  1. Seven million according to the BBC. 20,000 in Madison, WI, 18,000 in Milwaukee, 1200 in Hayward (pop 2500), home of Sec’y of Transportation and former reality TV star Sean Duffy. More to come on my site tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing the stats, Steve. You just reminded me of something. Son’s friend lives in Lansing (where Michigan State U is located for those who don’t know) and said the protest was massive but there were agitators of one sort or another. I don’t have any other deets on it. Will be looking for your post tomorrow.

  2. I’m proud of you Lisa. Stand up for your rights and your freedom. Don’t let bullies become kings.

Your country was The Great Experiment. Don’t let it fail.

The rest of the world has to believe there was more good than bad in the USA all along. Or we all believed a lie.

Well done, Lisa and son and friend. I read somewhere that Boston’s event attracted a million. Seems high, but who knows…

Thanks, Steve. I know there were at least twice as many at this one as were at the first No Kings rally. Plus, there was another big one earlier in the day at another location in town. People are fed up and we are not going away.

They said 100,000 in NYC–it was amazing. I was standing by the subway waiting for my friend and her son, and people kept piling out, train after train. Wonderful signs and costumes galore. Frogs, dinos, bananas, unicorns–lots of kids in costumes too. Totally peaceful, I saw very few cops even, they said no arrests in the city. I did not take photos because my friend needs help walking, and her son took one arm and I took the other. She made it 30 blocks! She’s the daughter of Holocaust survivors, she knows. Determined to make her voice heard. (K)

<3 <3 <3 Kerfe, appreciate you sharing your experience on No Kings Day. No arrests in NYC with a crowd of 100,000 is a pointed message to the toad. Your friend is a hero for making 30 blocks. I'm glad her son came along and helped you to help her.

I had no idea The Portland Frog made such an impact but you saw how many frogs were in my pic and the crowd wasn't huge, maybe a thousand (hard to estimate) and several other fun animals. There were some people each carrying a number: 8 6 4 7 and were standing along the drive after the rally was over. One big diff between NYC and MI rallies besides numbers was there are NO kids at this rally or the one before iirc. There were young adults but no little kids. I think there is an unspoken fear factor.

I just saw a new estimate of 350,000 in NYC and over 8 million nationwide. There were lots of families here. One thing I did notice was many less Latinos. I understand that completely, though I think they would have been fine.

When we walked through Times Square it was hard to tell the tourists–who were very supportive–from the marchers.

What a wonderful update to read this morning. Thatsa lotsa people. I don’t blame the Latinos for not showing up. I can’t help but notice only white faces in the crowds at our local rallies. There was one black guy that sang a powerful song on stage on Saturday but he is a well-known “token” (I don’t know any more fitting term) in activist circles.
