#FF — Not a Dream (in memoriam for Trent)

Not a Dream

He woke up, disoriented. The last thing he remembered was unclipping Fiyaro’s leash from his collar and thinking about getting a cup of coffee after the run.

Where was he? It wasn’t the Cape Cod cabin, but it was a familiar cabin; his grandparents’ guest house cabin in the woods behind their house in Ohio. He smelled Grandma’s apple pie baking and heard Grandpa fiddling with the harness on Old Bessie through the open window. He remembered they always let Old Bessie cart them to church on Sundays.

Trent, time for breakfast!,” Grandma called.

He knew this wasn’t a dream.

[100 words]

In remembrance of Trent, who passed away unexpectedly on October 8. I went out to YouTube yesterday and listened to Trent’s last posted musical composition. I can’t help but look at the song with new eyes.  You will be missed, my friend.

  2. I hadn’t heard of him until now. Thanks for the intro. I just looked at his site (the page that Google sent me to) and saw a nearly six year old note from a former blogger in FInland I knew through here.

p.p.s. Trent was a genuinely good guy with an easy-going way about him. He loved nature and being in nature. He liked to kayak and take his dogs for walks. He was a classically trained musician who also had a playful way with his electronic musical instruments along with the real ones like trumpet and drums. He had recently retired from a 30 year government job.

Rochelle, I’m still trying to take in his passing is not a dream. When we interact only through a virtual media, real doesn’t seem real sometimes. Thank you and my pleasure on sharing Trent’s video.

Gabi, I started following him outside of #FF and got to know him a little better. He was a kind and gentle soul and so very talented. He was just getting started on enjoying his recent retirement.

Nice dedication, Ms. Lisa. I only knew Trent from FF, but it’s still shocking. How old was he? 63? That’s too young, especially for someone so full of creativity.
