Just One More!
A slamming door wakes me. I open my eyes to a mosaic of a thousand images. Was I having a stroke? I go to turn on my side to sit up and feel my leg tethered. I try to say “what the!?” but all I do is buzz. Looking at my leg I see a spindly black stick, sprouted with rough hairs, stuck on a brown sticky film.
How has this come to be? Have I been reincarnated? Enchanted?
I buzz, squirm, struggling to free myself and catch my wing in goo.
One grain of sugar before I go, please!

Are you like the proverbial fly on the wall, Lisa?

In this story, on the fly strip. I like how Sadje sees it better, she is a bee, wanting one more grain of sweet pollen.

A bee caught on insect tape. I was thinking of the fairy stuck on top of the Christmas tree. What was I thinking?

It’s amazing what you saw in the picture (I zoomed in and tried to find a fly… 😂) – excellent writing, poor fly though. What a shock to be reincarnated into a fly, and caught on these cruel fly traps. Or maybe the person deserved it…

Gabi, I love your musing on the deeper significance of what may be going on with the story. I immediately noticed all of the lines criss-crossing the image and thought that’s what a fly’s vision must look like (and probably other insects also.) Thanks for reading and your thoughtful comment.

Dear Lisa,
What a way to come back. A bit Kafka-ish. Well done.

lmao. Not sure if you saw the original movie with Vincent Price but that little creature yelling help me is the stuff of (lingering traumatic) nightmares.

A few months ago, I planned to watch them all over a few nights. It was one of the few times I knew exactly what I was going to watch before I sat down. I opened Max, and they were all gone. So, no, I haven’t seen the original. Someday! Someday!
