That’s a great picture of your mum and your son, Lisa – you look so much like her! I love the phrase ‘coax the open from your eyes’ and the wish to ‘Let your dreams be gentle things’. A sweet lullaby quadrille, Lisa.

Kim, thank you very much. Everyone used to say the same thing about me looking like her. My sister shares that with us also, except she has blonde hair. My son used to have pale blonde hair as a baby and toddler but it turned darker as he got older.

I immediately picked up on this phrase too – it’s so odd but just right.

Beautifully done, Lisa. Coaxing wide awake to peaceful slumber is a major job for a mother.

Dwight, thank you very much. <3 Yes, it is. And for fathers also. My son is the one who coaxes slumber for my granddaughter.

Oh, this is so tender, so beautiful, Li. It makes me think of singing my babies to sleep.💙
Great photo–you look so much like your mom! And that smile on your son’s face! Is there anything better in the world than a baby’s smile and laugh?!

Merril, I’m glad you like poem and it brings those memories back to you. Thanks on the photo and my mom and I were more alike than different I’ve come to realize over time. Yes, both of my kids were very happy babies <3

A wonderful use of coax here, Lisa. Everyone should have a mom as loving – and persuasive – as the one the poem highlights. Loving mothers know when to play the role of influencer!

K, thanks much. I know I’ve said some things about my mom and her cruelty over the poeming years, but she was a different person with her grandkids. She genuinely loved them and treated them well.
