Julianna Riolino — Macca cover: “Every Night” — Music that strikes a chord.

CDN media

I’ve been on a Canadian musical artist, Julianna Riolino, kick lately.  She and backing band, The Outfit, did a series of songs, called, “Live at the Farm,” in rural Ontario.  All of her other songs I’ve heard so far are originals, but I just came across this cover of Paul McCartney’s song, “Every Night.”  There is something about it has me wanting to share it.  Folks, mark my words, Julianna is an up-and-comer.

From The Fat Angel Sings about Live at the Farm:
Riolino has shown that same duality in her role as a member of cult favourite Daniel Romano’s backing band, The Outfit, here utilizing Romano as a guitarist and putting a tighter focus on her powerful vocals.

From pc pdx.com:
Daniel Romano’s Outfit is a Canadian indie-rock band led by Daniel Romano and featuring Julianna Riolino (vocals and guitar,) David Nardi (guitar,) Tony “The Pope” Cicero (organ,) Roddy Rosetti (electric bass), and Ian Romano (drums.)

What this tells me is this is when she was still with this group.  Her most recent album is a solo album.

Dwight, I do also. She is a rising star! Looking a little further, she left this band and has a new backing band and has made 2 albums with them.

  3. Julianna Riolino sounds great. I also love that Rickenbacker guitar she’s playing. I did not recall that Paul McCartney – perhaps not his most memorable, though with all the amazing songs this man was written, I guess one cane become spoiled. “Every Night” actually not a bad song, and Riolino surely did a nice job with her rendition.

Christian, thanks for checking her and her Rickenbacker out. I agree, that’s not a well-known Macca song, but I recognized the melody. Maybe from a solo album, pre-Wings? I’m hooked on her voice.

      1. Yep, from Macca’s debut solo album! I guess the biggie from that one is “Maybe I’m Amazed,” though I like the live version from “Wings Over America” much more.

To me. Macca’s first album feels very DIY and somewhat underwhelming, especially when compared to the later music by The Beatles.
