Take a Good Look

I have been noticing hate speech on Michigan in ads on YouTube when I watch one of the biggest independent news channels. Somebody is buying that time. I need to watch more closely on who it is. It shows pics of broken-windowed, vacant homes and other unpalatable things, while an aggressive male voice says (paraphrasing) Michigan government is horrible look what the State looks like. To me this means somebody fears the power of the government and its people in Michigan.

Another ad I’ve been seeing here and there on YouTube, whatever I’m watching, that keeps showing up are what I will call warm, fuzzy ads with beautiful landscapes, then a wholesome-looking woman talks about how much Enbridge cares for the environment. As Enbridge desperately wants to be given a green light on continuing to pump raw petroleum in its Line 5 pipeline –with or without a tunnel!– it is trying to gaslight people. Reminds me of the days when the tobacco industry reassured us that smoking was perfectly safe. Whether it is Enbridge or Morris, when you listen, there is a tweak in the gut that tells you it’s a line of bs.

How much do you want to bet if I follow the money on the first, it will lead to the second?

On another matter (maybe?) has anyone else noticed a change in how to like YouTube videos and make comments? For a couple of days now, where before, when I hit my bookmark to take me to YouTube I was auto-signed in and had no problem liking and commenting on videos, now YouTube makes me sign in by clicking on sign-in, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Further, when I am able to sign in, I can like a video, but when I go to add a comment, there is another “sign in” button down by the comments, which often doesn’t work. This suggests to me that I’m being censored to some extent by sharing my feelings on YouTube. Please let me know if you are having that problem.

A final thing I’ve noticed is that sometimes when I get online, 3 different windows seem to open but then disappear. I do remember this kind of thing happening when I used to work in my government job. I know that IT was monitoring everything done on every computer. Am I paranoid to think somebody is monitoring my computer?

Please let me know if anything I’ve mentioned in this post is happening to you. Also would love to hear if you think I’m being paranoid.

No paranoia — when has to watch out on all counts.

I cannot help on youtube as I don’t engage that much, but on the windows you are seeing that may be a sign of a virus or other intruder. Is this a windows PC you are seeing this one or some other device? Do you see this one more than one device. If it is on your PC, you can use ChatGPT or Gemini AI to assist you in removing, or buy a Security program.

Walt, I only see it on my PC (with windows.) I will run the security programs I already have and see what happens. Thanks for the info!

  3. Oh it’s a rigged game. Older platforms like Thai one will become more and more important as the revolution comes

  4. I had this problem, Lisa and I used the “Reset this PC” function in Windows (specifically the “Remove everything” option) to prevent multiple windows from opening which wiped out potentially corrupt settings, malicious software, and rogue startup items.  Maybe you could talk with Max about this, as he knows more than I do.

Thanks, Jim. I don’t want to go that far. Maybe I will ask him.

      1. It might take Max a while to get back to you as he has been stuck at home do to the storm and he spent a few days without electricity, but he has helped me before and he is a very good-natured person. I just did this for my computer and for my cousin’s, but I can’t remember exactly how I did it, otherwise I would have given you the instructions.

I have Norton which prompts me to clean up stuff on my computer every few days. There are always viruses about. It’s not paranoid to think someone is eavesdropping, whether political or just as a way to make money. I mean we know Google is, and if you’re on FB they definitely are. There’s a price for a “free” internet.

I only look at YouTube, I never sign in or like anything, so I can’t comment on that.

I keep getting political texts all of a sudden. I mark them all as spam, so I can’t say what they are about particularly. The ads I get on YouTube are AI ads or for some sleezy product promising to make you thin or something similar. Or movie ads. Cuomo bought ads during the election though.

People are so easily influenced. Their mothers didn’t raise them right. (K)

Thanks for the info, K. I noted who was pushing those “hate Michigan” ads. Perry Johnson is a Republican who wants to be governor. I guess there’s a whole slew of them wanting to destroy our state with their bs.

Yes, Cuomo’s ads were like that too. Luckily NYC wasn’t buying it. I’m sure it will only get worse as we head into the midterms.

Hey Lisa, I find it worth getting YouTube premium as the ads were driving me nuts not to mention time consuming. But I am on there for hours everyday for my blog posts. As to the flicking or popping up windows that sounds like what I get. For me it’s my Norton Antivirus doing it’s job I think. But doing a security check and virus scan is probably a good idea. But we are so monitored by so called friendly’s as someone pointed out that the genie is out of the bottle on trying to stop that. If it’s not malicious I personally don’t worry about it.

Randy, I appreciate your info and thoughts on it. I can’t afford YT premium, but it would be so much nicer without the ads!
