You have reached a quiet bamboo grove, where you will find an eclectic mix of nature, music, writing, and other creative arts. Tao-Talk is curated by a philosophical daoist who has thrown the net away.
Celestial proof, faith’s gift preserved Through cloth loomed from best of life Quiet watching, joy from joy observed
Grok of love with warmth we’re curled Strands of care protect each in strife Celestial proof, faith’s gift preserved
Patience tested, yet huffs demurred, Forget-full tender kisses in moonlight Quiet watching, joy from joy observed
Fathomlessly from grace, unearned, Weary travelers hear heaven’s pipe Celestial proof, faith’s gift preserved
Palm 2 palm, paths through tall ferns Exchange beach glass found in white Quiet watching, joy from joy observed
Souls sheltered, sacred space, purred Through seasons, unweighed and right Celestial proof, faith’s gift preserved Quiet watching, joy from joy observed
Sanaa is today’s host of dVerse’ Poetics Tuesday. Sanaa says: For today’s Poetics, I want you to write a poem about love as something quietly sacred — not just roses and hearts, but the small, unseen ways someone stays.
Li, I love the weaving of wisdom, emotion, and imagery to create a tapestry-like effect, or a warm blanket with which to wrap oneself in, light, comfortable and lived-in.
Lisa, this is a beautiful villanelle, with a gentle, touch. The repetition creates a rhythmic, hypnotic quality that mirrors the ‘quiet watching’ brilliantly 💞
This is such a gorgeous vilanelle, Lisa! I love; “Fathomlessly from grace, unearned, Weary travelers hear heaven’s pipe Celestial proof, faith’s gift preserved.”
This is very beautiful, Lisa. I liked your poem’s structure and rhythm, and the repeating last lines. Very rich and meaningful. The song was familiar from your Valentine’s post and I enjoyed listening to it again… I got more out of it on the second hearing. Lovely pairing with the poem.
A beautiful vilanelle Li! An amazing flow of words!

There’s a hint of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in your gentle villanelle, Lisa, with the celestial references and ‘palm 2 palm’. I love the idea of:
‘Souls sheltered, sacred space, purred
Through seasons, unweighed and right’.

Indeed … “joys observed” are “faith’s gift preserved.” A lovely thoughtful weave in this lively villanelle.
