dVerse Q242 — My Middle Name

“Wild Head”

                     My Middle Name

Jones is my wildling……….middle name.
Born ravenous……………..under howling moon
Chronic condition…………..that won’t be tamed
Drive for satisfaction, source of bleeding shame
Hungry for nouns, verbs, superlative adjectives,
where moderation…………..is a dirty word.
I’m outside of a world………that demands control.

I am today’s host for dVerse’ Quadrille Monday.  The prompt is to write a 44-word poem using some form of hunger.

That is different, Lisa, especially the form for a quadrille, and the subject wild and ravenous, a kind of grammatical/poetic werewolf ‘hungry for nouns, verbs, superlative adjectives’,

Creativity, untamed, in a “world that demands control” is the realm of us “wildlings,” I think. I love the hunger that comes through your words, Li, “ravenous …. under howling moon.”

Dora, thank you very much. Avoiding being siphoned in one way or another makes the hunger all the greater imo.

Thanks much, Jim. Temple of the Dog is the group that came together after Mother Love Bone’s lead singer, Andy Wood, died from a drug OD. Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron (drummer) from Soundgarden; Mike McCready (lead guitar,) Jeff Ament (bass,) and Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) from Mother Love Bone; and Eddie Vedder, who later replaced Andy and renamed themselves Pearl Jam. Matt later become PJ’s drummer.

Jim, oops on that comment. You were talking about the St. Vincent song, not the Temple of the Dog song I used in my dVerse prompt. Yes, St. Vincent song is very pretty :)

      1. That makes more sense now, as I didn’t think all these groups were related.

Glyn, the more I heard of St. Vincent, the more I like. I know that everyone’s in a tizzy because Bad Bunny’s album is completely in Spanish, but St. Vincent did them one better: they took one of their albums and re-recorded it all in Spanish.
