I’ve been nominated!

I remember getting nominated for a lot of these kinds of awards when I first started blogging.  It’s been awhile!  Steve at Steve for the Deaf has honored me today.  Thank you, Steve!

Steve’s Questions for me:

  1. If you in life had a theme song that played wherever you go, what would it be and why?

The theme song for Northern Exposure, one of the best TV shows of all time. Every time I hear it I’m transported to that remote little berg of a community, sitting in Roslyn’s, shooting the sh*t with Holling and Shelly and listening to Dr. Fleishman whining about something.

  1. Have you ever pretended to have read a famous book and now it’s gone too far to admit you haven’t, especially as you saw the film and got the gist?

NEVER. There are too many famous books out there, never enough time to read them or the not famous ones. My question to this question is why would I? Who would I be trying to impress?

  1. If you were signalling to the people who know you best from another plane, what would your signal be?

(eye) (heart) (point at them) Granddaughter and I do this every time we part and have since she was a baby. My sons and my daughter in-law would also understand it. These are the people who know me best.

  1. Have you ever lied to a total stranger just because you knew you’d never see them again?

Yes. Stalkerish types I’ve come across in bars and other places.

  1. Queen or ABBA? Show your workings.

Brian May and Freddie Mercury vs. the 4 pop blondies? No contest.

  1. What’s your absolute favourite fiction novel, and why?

Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. A kid who grows up with a psycho mother; a kid who grows up into a sex addict, who decides to go cold turkey (no, it’s not a euphemism for a freaky sex act!,) and works a minimum wage job at an historical village and is best friends with a guy who collects large rocks — and who has to grift off of strangers to keep his nutzoid mother in the finest psych unit in town. What’s not to love about it?

  1. Will you celebrate when it happens?

Oh HELL YEAH. I’m going to buy a bottle of Tequila Rose and drink the whole thing on the rocks. Depending on season and time of day, if it’s summertime and at night, I will go skinny dipping in Lake Michigan and howl at the moon.

  1. When was the last time you changed your mind about something important? What did it cost you?

Accused of using AI, I chose to withdraw the poem from publication. It cost me nothing, and it saved my literary integrity as I was asked to edit my work and refused.

  1. Did you ever surprise yourself by trying something totally unlike you, just once, to see whether you liked it?

I tried singing karaoke in a crowded bar full of total strangers to a song I was sure I knew the lyrics to – but didn’t. Heart pumping, blundering through, totally embarrassed. Not a ringing endorsement for trying something totally unlike me – usually mortified in a crowd of strangers. I did not like it at all.

  1. Ozzy or Dio?

Ozzy because Dio is someone mostly unfamiliar to me.

  1. If we’re going to a Halloween party together what costumes are you picking for us both?

Me: Executioner carrying chopper in one hand and basket with bloody head in it in the other
You: Headless someone connected to question #7

I’m going to go rogue on this and decline nominating any specific people. If you read this and want to answer the questions, please do so in the comments or answer on your blog and put a link to it in the comments.

1. What’s your favorite sandwich? (Question stolen from The Colbert Questionert)

2. What’s your favorite body of water and why?

3. Walking, running, or bicycling?

4. What’s your favorite work of art (painting, sculpture, multi-media) and why?

5. If heaven exists, what does it look like?

6. If hell exists, what does it look like?

7. What’s your favorite time of day?

8. If you won a year-long trip to the moon, would you go?

9. If you could be a character on any TV series, past or present, which series and what would your character be like?

10. Who would you like to see in a Celebrity Death Match?

11. City, suburban, or rural and why?
