You have reached a quiet bamboo grove, where you will find an eclectic mix of nature, music, writing, and other creative arts. Tao-Talk is curated by a philosophical daoist who has thrown the net away.
Hey Max! It’s a beautiful place. Thanks for the welcome back. Am trying to ease myself into and still get real life things done. Had to have washing machine repairman over today to look at mine. They still have parts available for it so will have them do at least one of the repairs done on it and keep fingers crossed on the other. A new washing machine isn’t in the cards right now.
Yea don’t over do it… I hope they can find the parts. We bought a new one around 9 years ago…it lasted like 6-7 years… so we just took a chance and found an earlier model used…no computer sensors…just knobs and buttons…we have used it for 2 years…paid 200 for it and a dryer. It’s probably 15 years old…but it’s great.
When I called to set up the appointment, they had a record of when I bought it 14 years ago and they checked to see if parts were still available for it. That’s how they get you! I’m glad you found a good bargain and they are treating you well. The dryer I bought a few years ago is still like new as I hang my clothes on lines in the atrium.
Yes it is! Same with cars…that is where they make their money. I just want older and simple items now…like me! lol. Funny I’m in IT but I want things without it.
Favorite quote of the day:
“I just want older and simple items now…like me!”
We are a sick society when we’ve been conditioned to not help each other but to predate on each other.
Maybe you should think of a career change? If you could choose any career aside from what you’re doing, what would it be?
When we move…I could change. That is a great question. I can tell you what I wish I would have done… a historian or an archivist.
I love troubleshooting as well…that is why I do what I do. That is the basic underlying motivation. Not really IT…but just troublehshooting problems. But yea…no surprise here…I do like older stuff because usually they are better quality and not as much stuff to break. Whats the old saying? The more links in a chain is the more probability to break. I don’t need heated seats, gps built in, automatic driving…just give me a simple car…or object.
I got on the blog real quick….awesome…I love the look and design of that. BTW…Welcome Back! I remember this…I love the interior as well…

Max, that doesn’t surprise me. Either of those jobs would suit you.
I would call my old job human troubleshooting. Case management with a few other duties thrown in.

Oh yours was rough! There is a manual for mine so to speak…when you are involved with people…anything goes. There is no owners manual for that.
