Into the Wild
“Your tea, Madame,” James announces, setting the usual tray of the usual things in the usual place.
There is comfort in routine. Yvette tries to convince herself; but today, her mantra’s unsuccessful.
“James, get the Bentley ready, and put the top down.”
She pulls a dust-dulled plastic shroud from the flowered chiffon dress, opens the hat box with the large-brimmed, sweetgrass hat and dons them. No need for shoes where she’s going.
She speed-dials and says, “See you there at three.”
Engine purring, she embarks with her perfumed fuzzy blanket and full picnic basket, off into the wild.

Neil, it’s another kind of routine, but not nearly as dull. Thanks for reading and your comment.

Somebody’s living the good life.

Even the good life can become tedious. I’m glad she given herself some options from the same-old same-old.

I like Yvette already! She’s someone who lives a high-society life, but has a spontaneous and rebellious streak. The fact that she doesn’t even bother with shoes tells us she’s ready to go a bit wild 😃

Ange, I love how you see her. Remember that Lou Reed song, “Take a walk on the wild side”? Not sure if that’s the name of it but that was part of the chorus.

Back to her wild youth, bare feet in long grass and wine in the picnic basket. I hope he turns up.
