#FFF 69 Doodads (scheduled to post at 9 this morning but didn’t)

It’s been a pretty low-key week so far. On Tuesday, we went to Red Robin and then the bounce house in Grand Rapids, staying inside because of the heat. The following image was on the wall at Red Robin that was so compelling to me that I had to share it with you.

I went out searching in cyberia for more modernizations and didn’t find many. That said I *did* find this one of “20 Famous Paintings Reimagined With Star Wars Elements” from 2014 that I found humorous.

Granddaughter is becoming quite the athlete on the fitness course that the bounce house has. Lots of things to climb, jump off of, zip line on. There are giant cushions under them all and every hard surface is padded. I love to see her build muscles and skills while burning energy.

I wrote a poem about one conversation we had that day and am sending it out to someone on my Poetry Postcard (POPO) Fest 2026 list. The fest goes from July 4 to the end of August so plenty of time to get the poems written. This year I bought postcards from Marina, the ones she used in this year’s A2Z, with the theme of famous women. I am going to ask Marina if I can share those postcards with the poems when I share them in October. Marina, if you’re reading this, please let me know if I have your permission.

Happy Friday!

Fantastic, Marina, thank you <3 Just so you know, the poems aren't ekphrastic. I'm writing them first thing in the morning with first cuppajoe (pen and paper) then tweak them on the computer, then pick the postcard out of the pack to transcribe them onto. Your wonderful postcards have saved me from a lot of work in creating collage postcards this year.

The organizers like the participants to wait a month after the fest closes, which is why they won't post here until October.

Thanks again, Marina. I will plan on linking to the A-Z posts you did for each postcard, if you are ok with that?

I will have to visit Red Robin again…you got me wanting to go. I have an off the wall question…as always! I just saw a documentary on her since you mentioned famous women…you ever write about Marie Curie?

Max, no I haven’t written about Marie. I know she is mentioned in the book I read, “Radium Girls” iirc. That’s an excellent book if you ever get a chance to read it — but be warned, it’s haunting.

Yes I would think it is! She won two Nobel Prizes…which is incredible.

It’s a morbid one…just to tell you. What happened is I saw that she was included in a doc on women I watched…a short piece on her and this popped up…this one is short. I want to watch a complete one. Lisa…she is still radioactive…dang.

Radioactivity has a half-life of 10,000 years. That means its radioactivity will be half of what is is in 10,000 years. I fear humans will be extinct before Marie Curie’s body is no longer radioactive. Thanks for sharing the video, Max.

It actually depends on the substance as to what its half-life is. Stuff like radium, uranium, etc. have ungodly half-lives.

  4. My big doodad today was hauling heavy trash into a dumpster, which made this day largely go away from me. I also feel slightly destroyed! 😆

I’m planning to return to Atlantic City tomorrow for another music tribute festival (British Invasion Festival) and in the evening see my music friend John Hathaway back in central NJ, who is a great Neil Young tribute artist. Let’s see how much I can move tomorrow! 🤣

Oh my gosh, Christian, heavy lifting in summer’s hottest temps is challenging and can be dangerous (heat stroke.) Getting rid of trash is a relief though, so good for you on getting it done. Take it easy tonight in A/C to fully enjoy your time tomorrow in Atlantic City. British Invasion Festival sounds like a blast. Getting to see a music friend who is also a musician with good taste, in friends and in tribute subject, is a double bonus :)

      1. Thanks, I drank plenty of water in the process and made it out alive! I’m currently in Atlantic City and thus far having a ball despite (at times pretty heavy) rain.

Luckily, the outdoor venue has plenty of tarp roof space and the stage appears to be well tarped in the back and on the sides.

Still, I do feel bad for the performing musicians, though I also have to say everybody still projects a great mood. Plus, I guess brushing aside shitty weather at an open air event very rock & roll!😆

Lisa, our Red Robin closed some time ago for unknown reasons, and no replacement has been forthcoming. That being said, I think I’ve got a good shot at visiting another one in the future before Marie Curie finishes up her radioactivity. A very cool painting.

Bruce a lot of chains have closed down around here, including Red Lobster, but Red Robin survives in my town and there are several in Grand Rapids, where this one is. LOL on Marie Curie! Maybe in the next 5th lifetime they may be resurrected.

I can imagine Picasso rolling over a few times…

I need to check my PO box and see if I have any surprises!
Thanks in advance – I sent you another one too.

My grands are much older. But my great nephews are 4 and they are a handful. We saw them last weekend.

Card cames can be fun. Our Nephew likes ‘Spades’. But he’s on his Mom’s team with Pinochle… And there are a few different ways to play. I’ve played 3, 4 (with teams) and individual, and even 5 and 6 handed with double decks! Ther is contract were you bid only once and Auction where it goes around to the highest bidder – that’s in Cut Throat with three players. At least how we play.

I’m way behind on my return visits. So I thought I’d answer that card game question here. Since we are leaving in a few moments.

Hope you are having a good weekend. I collected some more white colomine seeds too. :)
