I am the creature who
smells your darkest thoughts

Third Time Karma (For Virginia)

I put dabs of blood-velvet lipstick on like a whore, then matte it daintily like a lady, before taking last look in the mirror. I am the creature who smells your darkest thoughts. Smiling at our secret, I lower my black veil, then click my way out of heavy oak door and down sidewalk to a limousine.

It idles in alley at our agreed-upon rendezvous. It’s our third. Your bulk emerges from shadows in 5x hoodie; you grunt into the back seat. I raise my veil and kiss your sallow jowl.

My face is bobbing now in your sweaty, rancid crotch, your hand clenched in my hair. You, distracted, don’t notice my stiletto slipping up and in under your padded ribs. My hand’s over your mouth now. Next plunge spurts your carotid. It’s your last moan from a woman. Veil re-situated, I slip away.

[144 words]

The band, Toadies, has an excellent new album out, titled, “The Charmer.” Vaden Todd Lewis wrote the title track and has said in interviews it is about a dark aspect of his own character. I immediately used the song as a spark for my muse.

Merril is today’s host for dVerse’ Prosery Monday. Merril wants us to write a 144-word (or less) story using the top line of poetry she has given us.

Ohhh! I think this should be part of a series, Li! You’ve set a high bar–being the first one in the Linky.

I agree with Björn though–not that I condone violence, but he seems pretty awful. 😉

Thank you, Merril. The thing about fiction is that anything goes and anything is possible. What’s that caveat they give in writing: any resemblance to a person living or dead is purely coincidental?

Lisa, that dark side is off the leash and running wild here. You made the very most of the word limit. The Toadies song escalates the moody, dark storyline. Excellent!

I enjoyed your third time karma, Lisa, and the track from The Toadies – new to me.  I love the description of the lipstick as ‘blood-velvet’ and the contrast of dabbing it on like a whore and matting it daintily like a lady. You went deliciously dark in this one!

  13. Oh my I love this so much… Down to the blood-velvet lipstick of a whore dabbed to look like a lady and rancid of his crotch… uh-oh and the last moan… I love how you used the prompt here and that wordage… that’s my cup of tea…
