The Hotel Frederick

It’s where old writers go to die. Stone steps welcome. Stable arches affirm. Windows manifest transparency. Moon-light guides through unlockable doors.

Pietra, Librarian and Hostess, greets you with her Bodhisattva smile and shows you to your room, #317.

Belle, in #318, hears your vintage Royal tapping through the wall. Soon her tap is at your door.

“Hello, I’m Belle. I heard your Royal. Most here have given it up.”

“Hello. I’m Bert. I’m getting there.”

Belle says, “No rush. I’m not quite there either.”

We share morning coffees.

A year later, we walk out together, hand in hand, with our typewriters.

That really sounds very interesting, Lisa. I was imagining the scene. That must have been the old writers’ hotel. ☺️

Lisa, loved the story…which now has me wishing I had kept at least one typewriter I used from back in the “stone ages” lol.

Bruce, thanks very much. I remember the little blue colored typewriter I had. Remember when the modern era hit and we had “selectric”s? A restaurant nearby has a wall of them. You never know when they might need to come in handy again!
