Flying High
hog rise to ridge; eyes cast, I spot,
scene-squeezed, a vision: peepers pop,
I’m sky-high
dressed in sixties mini-dress (props)
fishnet stockings, pink, with high-tops,
her thigh-highs!
long-haired mod-podge fantasy, her
thumb out. my thighs scaffold outcrop,
high-tail it.
chopper-roared, muffler-growled spin-out
rubber gripping melting blacktop;
I’m high-risk
rumbly offered boarding, hog stops.
burned, relieved, she climbs atop
we high-fly

5 stanzas
3 lines per stanza
rhyme scheme a,a,b
meter 8/8/3
last line of each stanza includes a compound word using the same stem
e.g. footsore, footstool, footage; OR underfoot; pussyfoot etc
poem’s title includes the stem word

After reading through several of the poems, I realized “a” could be different for each stanza. May have to try another one with that in mind.

I remember him well :) I watched CC and Company awhile back and was shocked at the brutality of it. William Smith was a good villain in it.

late to the prompt but worth the wait with this high thigh flying poem that races along and hence overcomes what can be a rather stilted poetry style – high five Lisa!
