De (aka whimzygizmo)is today’s host for dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. De wants us to write a 44-word poem using the word pocket.

Lisa, that’s a very wonderfully written piece. 👍 Those brunnera hearts surely look like hearts. Is it the Jack Frost type?

Thank you, Yasan. I think they are Jack Frost. Not in my yard nor planted by me.

Your poem is like a game of word association, Lisa, and I love where pockets took you. The line ‘hands beg gloves’ made me smile as glove weather is approaching – yes, ‘weather interests all’.

I loved how your engineered this poem Lisa, with the last word begetting the following line, you have some classic lines in there for sure but my fave has to be, “art lubricates soul.”…aint that the truth!! Beautiful quadrille and well done 🧡

Cara, the form is a modified blitz. I verbified each middle word, which helped me choose the caps. I like that line also. It could probably be vice versa also. Thanks much <3

Thanks, Ron. I really didn’t know where it was leading but I did know it would come together at the end.

What a brilliantly engineered piece, Li! The modified blitz structure works so effectively here—the way each line’s final word rolls right into the next creates such a natural, rhythmic momentum. I completely agree with thetigressawakens (Cara); ‘art lubricates soul’ is such a classic, standout line! Like kim881 mentioned, ‘hands beg gloves’ feels so fitting as cool weather approaches, and lillian described the word-association flow perfectly. Wonderful 44-word quadrille!
