#FFF 81 No Kings Vote Early Rally 101726

The image above comes from a website, but the rest are ones I took on the 17th at the rally I attended. I was encouraged by the number of people who attended, standing along the corner of a busy intersection in town. I cant say how many were there but I would estimate 100 people.

The event took place at where a Rite Aid used to be but had shut down. The building has been vacant for awhile and it was a good spot to be seen and space to park. There were a few pieces of machinery there but were not in use. The event started at 11 and went until 1. Interestingly, after the parking lot was full of cars, workmen showed up and told the organizers we had to park elsewhere as they needed to start working and it wasn’t safe for cars to be there. We were also told that nearby Lowes, that has a huge parking lot, had posted signs that non-customers parking there would be towed away. I parked in the furthest edge of Aldi’s lot that was closest to the rally. It was a block or so away. The workmen played with their equipment for a few minutes, then left and never returned. Things that make you go hm?

What was most encouraging about the rally were the number of cars that drove by and honked, waved, yelled out the window in support. 99% of all. There were a miniscule amount that went by who gave the finger or revved their monster trucks as they went by. There were some who never acknowledged us so maybe silently opposed?

The crowds at these rallies are ALWAYS friendly. Some guy gave me a “vote early” button. Another said that Early Voting votes are tabulated at the time you vote; whereas absentee votes aren’t tabulated until the election is over. One of my sons always votes early. I vote absentee but drive my ballot to the fortified box at my voting location. The other son votes on voting day.

I working on sending out 40 postcards this week, encouraging people to vote. They were personalized by me and non-partisan. I had to go to 2 different post offices to find 40 postcard stamps! Now I know why I usually order them online.

If even one postcard convinces a person to choose to vote, it will have been worth it. This may be the most important election ever held in the U.S. Until the one in 2 years…
