Amulet
Tonight was storytime at the library. I asked granddaughter to write my name tag for me and she knew every letter. Besides their carpet letter squares to sit on, the children chose from brightly colored scarves for one of the activities. She chose purple, her mother chose orange, and she chose neon yellow for me and red for her dad.
The activities start with the bubble machine (last year it ended with them.) The little ones chase bubbles and the adults sing along to “Bubbles in the Bath.” There are songs that they stretch to, open and close their fingers, and always singing along. The just-walking watch the practiced kindergartners to learn the routines. The scarves were scrunched up to popcorn kernels that popped. They were thrown up and floated gently to the floor. They swayed in all our hands to the music. Then two picture books were read about the spooky season.
The last part of the hour was gluing construction paper pumpkins together. She made a toothy frowner with bushy eyebrows. Her dad made one similar to hers. Her mom made a toothy smiler with brown twigged hair. I made a halfway scary vampire jack-o-lantern with square-pegged fangs. At the end of storytime, I put my name tag on the back of mine. Granddaughter said she is putting them on the windows of their front porch.

I love it! Such a beautiful name tag and I must say I love that grandma made a vampire Jack ‘o Lantern. Wonderful Li :)
