“Listen” is a song from musical group, Chicago’s, first LP, Chicago Transit Authority. I got this 2-LP set as a youngster and played the grooves off of it. It was music like I’d never heard before. I lost the vinyl back in ’94 but was blessed to come across it in the basement of a thrift store in Big Rapids, MI a few years back. It stands the test of time.

Released in April 1969, Chicago Transit Authority (sometimes informally referred to simply as “CTA”) was an immediate hit, reaching #17 in the US and #9 in the UK. While critical reaction was also strong, the album initially failed to produce any hit singles, with the group seen as an album-oriented collective. In 1970 and 1971, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” (#7), “Beginnings” (#7) and “Questions 67 and 68” (#71/#24 re-release) would all prove to be belated hits. Buoyed by the success of their later albums, the album stayed on the charts for a then-record 171 weeks, and was certified gold (and later platinum and double platinum).

glad you liked it. The whole album is great, except a song or two where the guitarist went “experimental” which essentially made one’s ears bleed.

I don’t remember this one, but it’s pretty good. They do have a distinctive style to their music. The one from them I like best is, “Look Away”. :)

Loved reading the backstory on this one, thanks for sharing that. This was new song for me, but I really liked it, has a great beat. I’m from the generation that got Peter Cetera’s Chicago, so it’s rare for me to know any of their older songs.
