#MLMM Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille, January 23rd 2019, skating

Ice skating in the countryside from the Netherlands

Chevrefeuille is the host today and says:

Your task is to create a haiku or haibun themed “skating”. Try to create a haiku following the classical rules (short moment, seasonword, cuttingword, 5-7-5 syllables and interchangeable first and third line) and your haibun may count a maximum of 150 words.
Have fun!

Steel blades clip clop as

the season’s cold dance

for water’s frozen tribute.

ii

Skate’s dashes and dots

leave winter’s messages on

blue white frozen slates.

iii

Inverted “T”s, built

of legs, leather, and steel, spell

winter’s alphabet.

iv

Frozen stage is set

for gliding ballerinas

sporting red noses.

v

Winter’s time machine

is a pair of skates — and figure

Wonderful! And I just looked up haibun. Hmmm. (Although it sounds like something like shumai!)

haven’t heard of shumai before. what’s it like? the haibun is like a little story then a haiku, but i’ve only done a few and they weren’t very well done

LoL, I thought you might. But c’mon doesn’t haibun sound like a dumpling? Back on topic, where’s the link or site or whatever for the d’verse prompts. I can’t find it (at least not with this prompt). I have to admit I just jotted one off.

Thanks! That’s the site I had! I’m doing something wrong and can’t find either the prompt nor the link for posting, even though I’m following the site. I’ll figure it out tomorrow. Meanwhile, I linked to your site instead. :D

I like the dot dash code speaking into infinity.
There is a rather elegant script to ice skaters.
