This morning’s listening was to Richard and Linda Thompson’s CD, “Shoot Out the Lights”.

from wikipedia Shoot Out the Lights is the sixth and final album by British husband-and-wife rock duo Richard and Linda Thompson. It was produced by Joe Boyd and released in 1982 on his Hannibal label. A critically acclaimed work, AllMusic’s Mark Deming noted that Shoot Out the Lights has “often been cited as Richard Thompson’s greatest work, and it’s difficult for anyone who has heard his body of work to argue the point.”

I don’t know if what Mark Deming says is true, but it’s a good CD.  My selection is the title track.

I like Richart and Linda Thompson…never knew much about them. The picture has a 70s feel to it…which is always a good thing

Linda has a very good voice. Sometimes she sings lead, sometimes he does. Sometimes they back each other up. Didn’t realize they split up after this album until today 😦

I have a song by them lined up in the drafts that I have to research some more called I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight…Not a hit but I love it.

I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight- and Shoot Out The Lights by Richard and Linda are great albums- I got to see Richard in concert back in the late 90’s- I wasn’t all that familiar with his work at the time -and the concert was excellent.

I have those two and 2 others of theirs: best of and “Pour Down like Silver”. Haven’t listened to “I Want To See”… much yet. Richard is a monster on that guitar. He makes it look easy. You are blessed to have seen him live in concert!
